Vintage Airplane Nursery Sneak Peak

Spoiled Rotten. No not our sweet baby, Hubs and I. So much of this nursery was gifted, shared, passed down or borrowed.  Precious and thoughtful gifts can be spotted everywhere.

Front door greetings

Should I just keep it brown- has the Colorado cabin feel to it.
Spicy Red says come in we are exciting!

Blue/gray says we are peaceful yet unique

Yellow says we are crazy fun and cute

Purple says My husband has no say in paint choices
My mom called this morning to rub it in that her and Dad are DIY-ers now. They painted their front door over the weekend. She also reupholstered some chairs, spray painted outdoor furniture, and redid  her bathroom this year. Not to mention the fact she is making and selling bows. Basically, she is getting out-of-control. I am a little concerned about the group of ladies she is spending all this time with that are influencing her this much.
The only rational response to all this home project craftiness she exudes right now is to compete!
Let the games begin....
Why I already know I will lose the war? Indecisiveness. Shocking, I know! This Indecisive ailment I have been afflicted with since my 10th birthday, when I cried (wept) once I was informed I could choose any restaurant to eat at for my birthday dinner, has no cure! Sure, I have learned coping strategies that help relieve the symptoms but the illness remains. And it is why I will not paint the hand-me-down dining room table, reupholster the southwest fabric dining room chairs, or even paint the front door. Pretending to paint the front door with paint shop is much less permanent and quite fun in fact. What do you guys think? Which color fits best?

Vintage Pilot Boy Nursery

Hold your Horses/Elephants! This was done while avoiding studying for finals, not for any expecting reason. So polyvore.... trying to make an outfit is a daunting task that makes me feel like I am in middle school again.  Listen folks, there is a reason I picked nursing as a career. I even get stressed at times regarding which scrub top should I wear with which scrub bottom. But I found that I love putting together a mod-podge nursery set. I realize that this set probably breaks all sorts of "design" elements and rules; but isn't it fun!
You should do it too! Stop being productive and start polyvoring!

Easy as 123

Built in 1905
The Curb appeal

Walk right into to the living room. Remember things are still IN PROGRESS. No harsh judging!

This little gem of a buffet table Jon grabbed when he was helping move his uncle's  mom to a nursing home.  He came in apologizing about how dated it was..... I fell in love! PERFECT FIT!

My sweet little Granny painted the tea set as a wedding present!
Vase: Home Goods $9.99

guest bedroom (ready for friend and fam to come visit- hint hint!)
Reading room. Which has now been rightly dubbed "Woman Cave" by the mother-in-law. Jon turned the closet into a built in for the TV.  We sanded, primed, and painted all the trim and doors white. Now I have a place to go when all the boys take over the man cave.
This was the Reading room as the previous owners had it... to bad they took all their furniture right?!?

Ok so the work continues on.....
Master Bedroom:. The room is so big and I really do not have any furniture to put in it yet.

Man Cave: Up and running with the essentials. Couch and Giant TV!

Kitchen: Boy howdy. That project feels burdensome. Once it begins I know it will be a huge nuisance and commitment so I have been avoiding starting at all costs! Can I microwave my oatmeal? yes. Can I make my mac'n'cheese? indeed. So what's the hurry?

Office: This is where I hid all the stuff/junk I don't know what to do with still.
Home owning is fun but I am ready to have the home decorating part done and just do the home living thing for awhile.

Inspiration, Exploration, and a little Perspiration

Indeed the words for my weekend.

Inspiration.

Found this wall inside the home of Amanda Mason-Hays and knew I wanted one.

I decided before I start my new job and I should tackle one last big Betty-Finale of a project.

Durham living room before:

No I do not decorate with Christmas year round, these pics are from December.

Durham Room After:

While I want to take credit for this mighty feat, I should probably go ahead and confess that my mom was in town this week. Not only was she the support during the ever daunting “decision-making” moments that stress me so, she also sponsored the rugJ. This 8x10 majestic number was only $199 from Marshalls HomeGoods. Steal of a Deal!

Exploration.

The family then spent Saturday transporting through time and reliving the story of TEXAS at the Houston Museum of Natural Science's new Texas exhibit. I feel reconnected to my roots and proud to be Texan (or as they kept saying in the video Texian.) I love being a Durham, but my Crockett blood runs deep!

Perspiration.

I am sure you were expecting to find a picture of how ridiculously hot and humid it seems to be this summer and it was hot and humid this weekend. But this Perspiration is not from the sun, the guilty villain causing me to sweat this weekend was UNITED/CONTINENTAL Airlines. They canceled my parents flight on Sunday! grrrr. Then they had no plan to help the 200+ passengers find a new way to get to their destination. Oh wait, they did offer to put them on the Tuesday evening flight. While that sounded soooo helpful, my Dad had a project at work he had to be back for. Jon and I got online and booked them on the 9:45 p.m. flight from Hobby, drove to IAH picked them up (first they waited 2 hours to get their bags back), and drove them to Hobby with Mom on the phone in the backseat trying to convince Continental to refund them for the canceled flight. Perspiration.
In Conclusion:
I love Southwest. Why do I punish myself by booking flights with other airlines? I know what me and Southwest have is real, true, and beautiful. Forgive me SW and please take me back!
